Cobbler, Inc. of Marshall, Virginia is a privately held, small business providing design and manufacture of specialized cellular telephone devices used for surveillance. In June of 2009, Cobbler was engaged in an upgrade to provide GPS capabilities to an existing device. At this time, they were “using a competitors active antenna with 15 dB gain using a single-stage LNA.” They were experiencing difficulty in meeting performance requirements and seeking an alternate solution. Time was running out as they were scheduled to ship prototypes the following week.

Maxtena, Inc. of Blacksburg, Virginia provided two of its MPA1575D104T tuning kits to Cobbler allowing them to insert pre-tuned GPS antennas into the prototype circuitry and achieve their performance requirements. On August 19, 2009, Maxtena, Inc. received the following comments from Mr. Patrick Debrow, President of Cobbler, Inc.

“We have completed our preliminary testing of the GPS antennas, using the MPA1575D104T Tuning Kit, and were blown away with the spectacular results. We were getting warm-start fixes with the GPS engine and antenna in configuration at an average of 40 seconds, with minimums of less than 30 seconds.”

Mr. Debrow shared that they were previously waiting up to five (5) minutes to achieve a fix. Mr. Debrow went on to state, “I want to thank you … for your assistance and support, and we are looking forward to future business with Maxtena.”
